Abstract. The article examines additional options for the formation of an important speech skill – listening comprehension. Its importance not only as an element of the European language framework, but also as a methodical concept
supporting the initial text perception, is analysed. The intersection between reading
comprehension and listening comprehension is explored and the need to focus
attention on different forms of reading training, assisting students who are not
reading at the respective grade level, is demonstrated.
An electronic resource is presented that supports students both in improving their reading technique, as well as in rationalizing of the text. Research-based strategies are suggested, which prepare better listeners and benefit the young student's language and literary development. The stages in the formation of listening comprehension skills are specified. The results of a study are presented, which demonstrate the necessity to use this skill as a learning tool assisting the conscious side of the reading act.
