Absract. The article presents the theoretical classification of values as positive
and negative and argues for the view that war is an anti-value against which the
fundamental value of human life stands; defends the thesis that literary education
has ample opportunities to form moral values against war; problematizes various
images of war in children's literature and suggests ways to include them in the
reading list of elementary and junior high school students; analyzes high school
literature curricula as a starting point for the formation of an aspiration for peaceful
resolution of conflicts and of intolerance to armed conflicts. In accordance with
the normative construction of intertextual connections between works from the
mandatory list and others that are freely selected, the anthology “Poetry Against the
Waˮ is brought to the attention of teachers, highlighting its main artistic and merits.
