Abstract.<\/strong> This research provides an analysis of the role of \u2018natural consciousness\u2019 and \u2018absolute knowledge\u2019 in the process of establishing the notion of philosophy in Hegel\u2019s The Phenomenology of Spirit. The author seeks to show that \u2018natural consciousness\u2019 does not disappear in the first approaches to The Phenomenology, but rather, it continues to act as the subject of the \u2018experience of consciousness\u2019 until the end. The material analysis directly related to the evolution of \u2018natural consciousness\u2019 in the first stages of \u2018experience\u2019 particularly supports the hypothesis about the philosopher\u2019s work on the book. The results obtained can be seen as a validation of the idea that the usual notions of overcoming \u2018natural consciousness\u2019 already in the first \u2018experiences of consciousness\u2019 do not correspond to its fundamental role in establishing the notion of philosophy in The Phenomenology of Spirit. It represents not only the starting point of the phenomenological movement but it is also involved in the \u2018reversals of consciousness\u2019 at every stage of the \u2018experience,\u2019 which is important to take into account for the correct evaluation of the specificity of The Phenomenology of Spirit and the comprehension of the nature of philosophical knowledge as the main result of this Hegelian work.
